Bathroom Vanity
This piece began with an email from a couple who were having their bathroom remodelled.
They were making a unique space that was truly original to them and they inquired about me making thier vanity unit to hold the sink, toiletries and towels.
They had a good idea about the dimensions and layout they wanted, and they also knew they wanted to use my signature handle design as seen on my Hundert pieces.
So I set out to make a few different versions for them on my computer programme to see what they thought.
In the end we went with a fairly classic Goldfinch Brookes style, but they wanted a lighter timber.
I managed to find some Ash that was felled very local to my workshop. Its a very light timber but still with a healthy amount of character and variation and the client was very happy to proceed.
It was at this pointed that I sent the quote over, which came to £2400.
Once they paid my standard 50% deposit the job is booked in and I start to order the materials in and we pencilled a finish date.
I worked together with their bathroom designer to make sure on sink placement and waste pipe cutouts etc. and then set to work building the piece.
I’m sure you will agree the Ash looks fantastic. It is finished in a matt hardwax oil with a slight white tint.
I managed to get my custom Oak handles on the doors to add a bit of contrast which I really love.
There is one adjustable shelve behind the doors and they are swung on soft close, wide opening hinges to make access as simple as possible.
This piece will have a stone top and then the sink sat on top of this. However I think it would look really fantastic as a sideboard or credenza as well.
