Inspired by my love of architecture, this piece brings drama, character but also subtlety. The legs have been fumed, which is a very old technique whereby the fumes of amonia react with the tannins in the Oak wood, and it turns it this rich choclatey brown. Although this technique is commonly used to try and blend in new Oak when making repairs in old country homes with very old wood, here I have flipped the process on it’s head, in order to emphasise the contrast and crisp joinery.
