Hundert's English Oak Wide Cabinet

£4,500.00

Bespoke English Oak dressser and chest of drawers inspired by the artist Hundertwasser’s work.

This is an extra wide version of the original design. All pieces can be made to your bespoke dimensions.

This special design uses shapes and textures inspired by nature to grant this piece fantastic character. The drawers are set deep to allow plentiful storage constructed with a mixture of English Oak and Birch ply. Functional in use, whilst stunning in appearance. The drawers run on traditional wooden runners although soft close hinges are of course possible. The handles are hand made out of Brown Oak, which offer a wonderful richness to the piece whilst also offering multiple ways of opening the drawers.

Hundertwasser is one of my favourite artists. A great environmentalist who hated the sight of ugly buildings. Much of his career was spent upgrading unloved buildings such as bland apartment buildings and even sewage works, turning them into exciting and colourful places. I took that concept and applied it to a chest of drawers.

All of the English Oak used in this piece is Quarter Sawn which grants these wonderfully ‘medullary rays’ which glimmer in the light. Not only do they look beautiful but Quarter Sawn Oak is also extremely stable and is the best cut off timber you can buy.

A piece I am most proud of that is sure to be treasured in your home for many generations.
