English Oak Serving Tray
I received an email from this client after they had been browsing on my website. It was a husband looking to commission a gift for his wife for a significant birthday.
He said he wasn’t really sure what he wanted, but he needed it to be smallish so that he could hide it from her until the day. We decided a phone call would help us sort this out, and we settled on a serving board for sharing coffees in the morning, after considering a few other options such as a jewelry box or a desk lamp.
Like many of my clients, he loved the look of the English Oak, and he wanted something light and easy to look after.
Rather than plan this one out on my computer, I spent some time in the workshop, playing around with handle designs until I came up with the one we both like the most. The handles are not only great for holding holding the tray, but they also keep the board of oak flat, and make sure there are no crevices or crumbs to get stuck in.
After agreeing on the design, I took a 50% deposit and as I had a free week between other commissions I set about right away building this piece.
It was sent using a standard courier service very efficiently and the customer was extremely happy upon receipt.
The client had this to say ‘Perfect Gareth. I love it and I think she will love it too’
This piece is available in standard sizes here, or if indeed you waant to order a custom size then please email me here.
